Program Chair, Management and Organizational Leadership

As Program Chair, Dr. Mary Ann Short oversees the direction of the business and management programs by responding to the needs of business and industry leaders, while maintaining a balance between conceptual foundation and practical application of leadership and management.


Mary Ann is a seasoned executive in organizational and leadership development, change management and performance improvement. She has delivered value to organizations in the financial services and software industry, and both public and private higher education institutions. Prior to joining Franklin in 2004, Mary Ann served in a variety of professional and educational settings including executive leadership positions at Ohio Dominican University, The Ohio State University, Bank One, and the CheckFree Corporation. An accomplished facilitator, communicator and coach, she is passionate about transferring performance models, concepts and plans into practical solutions that align people-focused initiatives with business objectives.

Appropriately, Mary Ann began her educational journey at Franklin earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She went on to further her education at The Ohio State University, earning both a Master of Arts in Administration for Higher Education and a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development with a concentration in Organizational Development and Adult Education.

Mary Ann resides in Columbus, Ohio, and is an avid golfer.
