Spotlight on Mike Posey

As Program Chair of the Healthcare Management Program, Dr. Michael W. Posey is responsible for all aspects of managing the major. He develops strategic relationships with healthcare agencies, hospitals, and community

colleges to increase transferability of previously earned credits and courses to raise enrollment and contribute to student success. In response to industry changes, Mike was instrumental in the recent redevelopment and design of the Healthcare Management curriculum and course materials to prepare graduates who possess the skills today's employers seek.

Prior to joining Franklin in 1999, Mike served in a variety of professional and educational settings, including owning a business which provided guidance to community organizations and businesses on topics such as leadership, communication, team building, motivation, volunteer recruitment and management, student leadership and development.

He was also an executive with Process Strategies in Charleston, West Virginia. While there, Mike generated new business initiatives and relationships with allied healthcare businesses and institutions throughout West Virginia. He also developed new and innovative programs and initiatives in the areas of business testing, management consulting, corrections/public safety management, and mental healthcare programs.

As a prolific author and speaker, Mike has published in academic journals and consumer publications, and regularly conducts presentations on leadership, motivation, cyber innovation, healthcare management, and community collaboration.

Mike's teaching experience includes positions at the University of Charleston in Charleston, West Virginia, The University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, and Albion College in Albion, Michigan.

He graduated with his Ph.D. in Higher Educational Leadership & Administration, with cognate specialization in Sociology, from The University of Toledo.He earned his master's degree in Interpersonal & Public Communication  and his B.A. in Communication in Interpersonal and Public Communication from Bowling Green University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Mike resides in Pickerington, Ohio, with his family and enjoys woodworking and restoring classic cars.
