| artificial intelligence, as well as the redevelopment of the Ron's wide range of technical experience reflects his strong interest in mastering new areas and ideas, especially those pertaining to software architecture, software development, and artificial intelligence. Prior to joining Franklin, Ron was the Senior Architect in the Systems Architecture Office of Qwest Communications, where he designed and implemented a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) corporate directory, and a corporate roadmap for LDAP-related technologies. He also designed an XML/XSLT-based electronic bill system. Ron also served 13 years in a variety of capacities at Bell Labs/Lucent. Among his contributions there, Ron researched, designed and implemented a natural language processing sub-system for an automated call router using automatic speech recognition, and implemented a "mother's maiden name" security system using a speech recognizer, for which a patent was granted. Ron also has a patent on a high-speed network algorithm. Additionally, while at the Naval Surface Weapons Center for 12 years, Ron designed military hardware and software, and worked on micro-coded emulation technology and computer network experiments. Before joining Franklin University as an adjunct faculty member in 1991, Ron served as an adjunct professor at Virginia Polytechnic and State University and Mary Washington College. Ron earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Ohio State University, and his Master of Science in Computer Science from The Virginia Polytechnic and State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from The Ohio State University. Ron has two daughters and a granddaughter. He enjoys rock climbing, kayaking, and woodworking. | |
