Spotlight on Tom Hrubec

As Program Chair, Dr. Tom Hrubec oversees the planning,  delivery and strategic direction of the Business Forensics and Forensic Accounting Majors at Franklin. He also servers as a Course Manager and faculty member  for Franklin's Accounting Major.


Dr. Hrubec brings to Franklin more than 20 years of experience as a consultant in the accounting field, and more than 15 years of faculty experience in both university and community college settings. He served as a consultant to Square D Corporation for cost accounting system reviews, and is co-author of two managerial accounting assessment books. His educational experience includes consulting work for Caterpillar Inc.'s College of Accounting Initiative, where he developed Web-based course materials for an online accounting curriculum. He is also a recipient of the Outstanding Accounting Educator Award from the Illinois CPA Society.

Dr. Hrubec holds a Doctorate in Education from Illinois State University. He earned both a Master of Accounting Science and a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from Northern Illinois University. His professional credentials include Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

With a teaching philosophy focused on continuous improvement, Dr.Hrubec stays attuned to the needs of the professional accounting community, our adjunct faculty, and our students, changing and adapting curriculum and instruction on a proactive basis.
