FAQs
What is the Community College Alliance & how does it work?
The Community College Alliance is a relationship between Franklin University and your community or technical college. Franklin accepts all your associate's degree credits toward a bachelor’s degree in one of our 16 online majors. You begin working toward your bachelor’s by taking a Franklin introductory online course called Learning Strategies (PF 321), preparing you for online learning. After successfully completing PF 321, you take bridge courses at your community college that are especially designated for our majors. Then, you complete your bachelor’s degree with Franklin’s online courses to complete the minimum 40 hours required for each major.
Bridge courses are classes offered at your community or technical college that will be applied toward your bachelor's degree. These courses may also serve as prerequisites for upper-level courses.

Do I have to complete all of my community college courses for my associate's degree and the bridge courses prior to beginning the online classes with Franklin?
No, you may complete coursework at both schools simultaneously. However, you will need to complete any necessary prerequisite courses prior to taking advanced level courses from Franklin. Students can take classes at Franklin with either an associate's degree or equivalent (60 semester credit hours/ 90 quarter hours of transferable credit).
After you submit a free application to Franklin University, you will need to arrange to have your community college send official copies of your transcripts* to Franklin. The Office of Transfer Credit will complete an official evaluation indicating what continuing courses you need to take at your community college. In addition, a final copy of your transcripts will need to be sent to Franklin upon completion of your continuing courses.
* An official transcript is one that has been received directly from each college or university listed on your application. It must bear the college seal, date, and an appropriate signature. Transcripts received that do not meet these requirements should not be considered official and are routinely rejected for any permanent use.

Is financial aid available through this Program? If so, how do I get started with the process?
