The library catalog is a great starting point for your research. The catalog is a searchable collection of records of every item in a library and will point you to the location of a particular source, or group of sources, that the library owns on your topic.
Why would I use a search catalog?
To find information and resources for your research which are available to you through the Franklin Library, OhioLINK libraries, and the local public library, the Columbus Metropolitan Library.
How do I use a search catalog?
In the provided search box, type in the keyword(s) on the subject you are searching, the specific title of a work, and/or the author of a work. Remember that catalogs provide various search alternatives such as basic and advanced and pull down menus and buttons with a variety of search possibilities. Remember to investigate the options available to you.
Franklin Library Catalog: Basic Search
The basic search allows you to quickly search the entire Franklin Library catalog which includes a variety of materials including print and electronic books, periodicals, multimedia, and even links out to relevant Web sites. Use the drop down menu to select an appropriate search.
Franklin Library Catalog: Advanced Search
The advanced search allows you to search the entire Franklin Library catalog with the advantage of searching using multiple words, limiting to type of media and date, and other search options.
The OhioLINK Catalog allows you to search the holdings within each participating member in the OhioLINK consortium. When items are not available at Franklin this option grants you access to over 40 million pieces of library material statewide.
Columbus Metropolitan Library Catalog
The Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) is the local public library serving Franklin County residents. Search the CML catalog for materials within this public library. You must be a CML member for access to materials and databases.
