To the Franklin University Community:

It is with great enthusiasm that I write to the entire University community with exciting news regarding the presidential search. The Franklin University Board of Trustees in a unanimous vote elected Dr. David Decker to serve as the University’s next president. Dr. Decker will begin work at Franklin as President-elect on June 1 and be named President on August 1, 2007. This appointment concludes a long and thorough process that began this past summer.

Dr. Decker’s twenty years of experience as a leader in business and education will be of great benefit as we set the agenda for Franklin’s future. His years overseeing the growth of multi-million dollar companies such as Sterling Engineered Products and Pioneer Plastics Corporation combined with his leadership at the New York Institute of Technology and Youngstown State University will bring the same real world knowledge that Franklin provides its own students. As Chairman of the Board of Trustees, I extend my warmest welcome and offer my continuing assurance that I will work in cooperation with Dr. David Decker to achieve continued success for Franklin.

The announcement of Dr. David Decker as Franklin University’s fourth president concludes a long and comprehensive process that began this past summer and now culminates in the appointment of a strong, versatile leader for the University. I want to thank everyone who worked diligently to reach this occasion. This announcement would not have been possible without the generous service of all of the members of the presidential search committee. The contribution of these individuals was invaluable in bringing Dr. David Decker to our University.

It is my hope that you will continue to actively participate in the success of Franklin by providing your support to our new president by wishing him every success in his new role as Franklin University’s President.
